These creamy Chicken Taquitos are filled with a savory blend of cream cheese, sour cream, green chiles, two kinds of cheese, and diced chicken, then rolled in tortillas and fried to golden perfection. - 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 can (4.5 oz) green chiles, drained
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
- 2 cups diced cooked chicken
- Kosher salt and black pepper to taste
- 8 flour or corn tortillas
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, green chiles, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, and diced cooked chicken. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the mixture across the top third of each tortilla. Roll tightly and secure each taquito with a toothpick.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Fry the taquitos in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Discard toothpicks before serving.
- Serve warm with your favorite toppings such as shredded lettuce, salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.
Notes
- To bake instead of fry, brush with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 17–18 minutes or until crispy.
- You can substitute chicken with ground beef, pork, or turkey.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
