Description

These Crispy Fried Green Beans are a flavorful and satisfying snack or appetizer. Coated in a perfectly seasoned batter and deep-fried until golden brown, they offer a crunchy texture and a delicious taste that pairs wonderfully with your favorite dipping sauces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Ranch dressing or dipping sauce of your choice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Pour buttermilk into another shallow bowl.
  3. Dip green beans into the buttermilk, shaking off any excess.
  4. Dredge the buttermilk-coated green beans in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Carefully lower battered green beans into the hot oil in batches, frying for 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove fried green beans from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Repeat the frying process with the remaining green beans.
  9. Serve hot fried green beans with ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough (375°F) before frying to achieve maximum crispiness.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan; fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature.
  • You can use canola or peanut oil as alternatives to vegetable oil.
  • Try serving with spicy mayo or chipotle aioli for a flavor twist.
