  • 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, cut into cubes
  • 34 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add diced potatoes and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften and brown slightly. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add steak cubes and sear until browned on all sides, about 3–4 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet and let it melt, then stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
  6. Return the potatoes and steak to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, and toss everything together until evenly coated with the garlic butter.
  7. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, or until heated through and steak reaches desired doneness.
  8. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For crispier potatoes, parboil or microwave them briefly before pan-frying.
  • You can add a splash of beef broth or Worcestershire sauce to deglaze the pan before adding steak and potatoes back in.
