- 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, cut into cubes
- 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add diced potatoes and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften and brown slightly. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add steak cubes and sear until browned on all sides, about 3–4 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet and let it melt, then stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
- Return the potatoes and steak to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, and toss everything together until evenly coated with the garlic butter.
- Cook for another 2–3 minutes, or until heated through and steak reaches desired doneness.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- For crispier potatoes, parboil or microwave them briefly before pan-frying.
- You can add a splash of beef broth or Worcestershire sauce to deglaze the pan before adding steak and potatoes back in.
- Swap in sweet potatoes or baby potatoes for a twist.
- Add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan for extra richness just before serving.
