Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded provolone or cheese of your choice
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Transfer half of the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and press it down evenly.
Sprinkle shredded cheese over the meat mixture in the pan, leaving a border around the edges.
Cover the cheese with the remaining meat mixture, pressing down gently to seal the edges.
In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the top is caramelized.
Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
