Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground sausage
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 can (8–10 biscuits) refrigerated biscuits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a standard pie dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and fully cooked. Remove sausage and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens and bubbles.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir cooked sausage back into the gravy mixture.
  6. Flatten each biscuit slightly and press into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie dish to create a crust.
  7. Pour the sausage gravy mixture evenly over the biscuit crust.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and the gravy is bubbly.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra richness, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage gravy before baking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
