Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked white rice, for serving
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Add sliced flank steak and toss to coat. Marinate for 15-30 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  3. Add marinated beef in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 1-2 minutes to sear. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add remaining vegetable oil. Add onion, bell peppers, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Return cooked beef to the skillet. Pour in beef broth or water and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats everything.
  7. Serve hot over steamed rice and garnish with chopped green onions.
