- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until a soft dough forms.
- Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, form dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or a fork.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- Chill the dough for 15–30 minutes if the cookies spread too much during baking.
- Decorate with icing, sanding sugar, or sprinkles once cooled for a festive touch.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- You can freeze the cookie dough for up to 3 months.
