Instructions
In a shallow bowl, soak peach slices in buttermilk for 10-15 minutes.
In another shallow bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, about 1 inch deep.
Remove peach slices from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off.
Dredge peach slices in the flour mixture, coating evenly on all sides.
Carefully place coated peach slices in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Fry peaches for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove fried peaches with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Optional: Dust fried peaches with powdered sugar before serving.
