1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup light corn syrup

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips


Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in flour and salt until a dough forms.

Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until lightly golden. Allow to cool slightly.

In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and turns a caramel color (about 10 minutes).

Pour the caramel over the shortbread crust and spread evenly. Let it cool and set.

Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.

Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and spread evenly. Let the bars cool completely until the chocolate is set.
