Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until fully dissolved.
- Whisk in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips, if using, for extra fudginess.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For even fudgier brownies, slightly underbake and chill before cutting.
- Substitute Dutch-processed cocoa powder if desired, but note that it may slightly alter the texture and flavor.
- Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking for a gourmet touch.
